We will be crushing Syrah this Sunday, October 4. Hopefully around noon or 1:00. I will tweet/post from the road Sunday with a better time estimate. Come on by for wine and wet fun. Kids get to [...] I think so. Can’t count on the PMR Pinot. What do [...] Looks like we will be crushing Dry Creek Zin/Petite a week from today. Phoebe and I will probably pick the “estate” grapes this week after school sometime and crush/press it into the house Rose Magnum. Last years sucked, but I will pay more attention to [...] We have decided to go with G&M Vineyards again for our half-ton of grapes this year. I just hung up with Levi and last week the Zin was at 19, the Petite a little behind. He is predicting harvest third or fourth week in September. He also suggested we either get a year-old barrel or use the existing [...] Things are roiling away, lots of CO2 and great smells. I am tracking temperature and Brix. I pitched a little of the extra D21/Fermaid K slurry into it to make our [...] We added dry ice to the must to cold soak it at a temperature at lease 50ºF. Here are the cooling numbers:

After an evening talking outside by the fire, drinking 2005 Grout Cellars Meritage, Sunday morning Joe and I got up early and hit the road. We had to make a brief stop at the rest stop on 280. It was a little weird. At 6:30 AM there must have been 30 cars there. Only two guys in the bathroom shaving, go figure. A quick stop to buy picking knives and by around 8:30 we reached the first vineyard and started picking. It was a cool, beautiful morning and the picking was great fun. We left with two bins filled with grapes. I just wanted to prove I got [...] |
