Monday night I picked up a bladder press from Fermentation Frenzy and we started pressing around 7:00 or so. The pressing system worked very well. I put my old stainless homebrew lauter tun under the press to collect the wine. The false bottom was intended to filter out any large solids, but there was really nothing to speak of.
From the valve on the bottom of the lauter tun was a 1/2 inch hose running to my new diaphragm pump, then out to a ball valve and another ½ inch hose. That hose was put into whatever vessel we were filling. It work very well.
We finished by 9:30, ending up with:
16.5 gal “Gardner’s Block” Merlot
12.0 gal “Gardner’s Block” Cabernet Sauvignon
14.0 gal PMR Cabernet Sauvignon
Total before racking off solids = 42.5 gallons
